>Red Mars – Kim Stanley Robinson

>A great story of colonizing Mars in the not-so-distant future. It describes the hardships the scientists went through when they were going through training in Antarctica, during the trip to Mars and when they finally get there. It also gets into the political impact colonizing Mars has on Earth. The different viewpoints of how to use the resources on Mars, whether or not to terraform and the inevitable revolution that occurs as a result of the many opposing views.

Definitely worth reading the sequel Blue Mars – where the terraforming and revolution continues.
