Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

There are not many books I haven’t finished reading once I start them; this one was almost added to that list. Let’s just say that the first couple of chapters did not grab me in, in fact, they were kind of off-putting. Katniss keeps whining about having to pretend to be in love with Peeta and then finding out she may have to marry him. boo hoo! If things were as bad as she thinks they are in District 12, having to marry a boy she does not love is the least of her problems. Everyone seems to think Katniss is a strong female character but all I see is a whiny, witless, girl who has absolutely no idea what’s going on in the big picture.
I did finish reading it though, only because I knew it to be a fast read and could get it over with quickly enough. I will read book three, only to find out what happens with the inevitable revolution, not because I’m interested in what Katniss has to whine about next.
