>V – the new series

>I was a total V fanatic in the 80s. I never missed an episode of the TV series and had a lot of the books. When I heard that they were re-making V I said to myself – yeah, it was a great show, but why is everything from the 80s coming back now? I’m just glad that the overly large shoulder pads aren’t back yet. I hated them then and still rip out any shoulder pads that come in my jackets now.
But I digress.
The pilot for V aired last night and I planted myself in front of the TV to watch it, just as I did over 20 years ago. And just like then, I had homework in front of me that I was trying to get through. This time it was my children’s homework I was checking.
Was it just me or did it seem like they crammed about half the TV series into less than one hour? The time line went so fast it was hard to keep up with what was going on. If I hadn’t seen the original, I’d wonder, WTF? actually, I’m still wondering that.
Everything happened so fast. I don’t think they had enough background – they didn’t leave you wondering about them for very long before you knew they were nasty reptilian creatures looking for a good human lunch.
I do have to say that I think they chose a good cast and it wasn’t nearly as cheesy as the original. But I wish they would SLOW down! Good science fiction shouldn’t be rushed like that. They missed out on a lot of good suspense opportunities.
oh, and one more thing. How come none of our space probes warned us of their arrival? Why was everyone so shocked when they just appeared over the cities?
